Busy time… summer course…

July 26, 2022

I am currently busy with an interesting summer course. It will take me right to the end of August so not many chances to do other than the homework. I will of course share the results when it is all done. I can tell you that it looks promising at this time, but we are only 3 weeks in. Plenty of time to mess things up 🙂

I hope you are all having a good summer?

Today I am posting some animal pictures that hopefully entertain you. First an image of our ginger cat Suzi. Wim was away for work for 10 days and when he came back, Suzi was very happy to see him. But first she showed him that she does not need him at all! I think she looks like a red hedgehog making a statement!

Amazingly, Suzi still regularly sleeps on her heated bed! Her coat is not very thick and she does not have the best of health, so the air conditioning probably is a bit too frigid for her sometimes

Mitsy, in the meantime, has switched to an early start of her daily siesta. She used to disappear in her cat tree around 2pm, but these days we find her in her hammock over the air conditioning vent around noon. She just cannot keep her eyes open and sometimes sleeps more than 7 hours at an end. By evening, she gets back up for a bit of food and play. Her coat is a lot thicker than Suzi’s, so she easily overheats, we think.

I regularly go to the lake for a walk and some meditation. The other day Wim and I had seen a swan family on a choppy lake and this week I saw them again. The young ones had grown considerably and when I stopped to make some pictures, I noticed that Daddy Swan was very agitated. There were not a lot of people around, so I started to investigate the surroundings to see what set him off. It was a marten! Or at least, that is what I think this little guy (or girl) is. Could easily also be a weasel or a mink.

He was in and out of the water and I have no doubt that he was drooling over all the young water fowl, ambitious as that probably is. But… make no mistake. All members of this specious are considered to be the most ferocious of hunters in the animal kingdom. I am sure that his cuddle factor is the opposite of what he looks like in this picture.

Daddy swan kept a close eye on him, hissed loudly and chased him off, so that his family with 4 young ones would remain safe!
