Now that October is on the calendar and as Canada is on the verge of lower temperatures, I was reminded of a gloomy sunrise I once witnessed in my home country. The sun was there, but then again it was not. It was what I would call an irresolute sun. “Shall I rise, shall I not… ” Very typical for fall and winter days in northern Europe.

This is one of those canvasses that are hard to photograph because the dark tones catch a lot of light, even when the painting is photographed in the shade. But you probably get the drift!
For those of you who dread winter as much as I do: I promise that the next works will be a lot more colourful. I have 2 pieces under development still, and one that is almost done. And they all feature a lot of colour, to brighten up the cold season ahead. One is a small painting, the other two are fairly big, so don’t get worried when things get silent here for a couple of weeks… I spend a lot of time in my cozy studio these days – unless we get nice sunny fall days. Then I will be out and about on my sturdy Dutch bike!
