Whenever I paint a cat, it makes me think of the ones I lost.
I have often used painting as a way to mourn those losses. The painting of Dixie on the cat wall is a good example of that. You can read the full story on my blog, here:
I also think back to the great source of joy felines have been in my life. In Canada, it has been an organisation named “Ninth Life Cat Rescue Ontario’ that jumps out. They helped us catch a highly pregnant semi-feral cat, adopt out the kittens of her last litter, which she had in our basement, and ultimately assisted us in keeping the mother, who is still growing in her level of socialisation. If you are interested in my cat stories, have a look at this website. It tells you the full story of how Mitsy found us (just click to open):
It was very hard letting her six kittens go, but I am happy to report that they all found wonderful homes. I am still in touch with most of the new owners and they are all doing well. There are 4 artworks that are reproductions of the originals. They have been printed at the same size as the originals. The originals were sold during an charity event organised by ‘Ninth Life Cat Rescue Ontario’, but who does not love a good painting of an adorable kitten, right? Feel free to buy them and enjoy them.
I think that painting a pet after they have passed, gives a lot of comfort. I will never forget the felines that chose me as their companion, they each had their own character and I loved them all.
There are only two that I have not painted yet. But I expect them to come out in acrylic paint in the nearby future… Check back on my website and you will be the first to see them!
Art prints
Like I said: some of my smaller cat original paintings have now found new owners. But I had 4 printed on canvas by my favourite art printer. Have a look, and I assure you that they look just like the original! They are just like rescues: just waiting for you to take them home!

Two of the original cat paintings: two watercolours (framed) of sleeping tortoise cats. Come see them and take one home, if you fall for them. They deserve a loving home! If not with you, then they stay with us, on our beautiful cat wall. And if there is any original cat painting that steals your heart, let me know. We can always discuss ordering a high quality custom art print.
