Painting Backstories: Feline portrait gets the thumbs-up!

As far as portraiture goes, I make no distinction between human and animal faces. As long as there is something about the face that I find interesting, be it a special feature or an interesting pattern of wrinkles, I am game.

Most commissions for pets are not in a large format. So this time I wanted to just be free with my brush and create a large tabby-cat face with prominent eyes.

It represents no particular feline but it certainly has the character that is often so typical for cats of the tabby persuasion. Therefore, after finishing it, I discussed it with Mitsy, our elusive rescue cat from the wild. And lo and behold, she gave it the thumbs up!!
