I once bought a sculpture in the shape of a piece of cheese. The kind with big holes in it. Swiss cheese, in all likelihood. On it sat a tiny figure of a mouse. I found it endearing and kept it in the house on a shelf. And then it fell off and the mouse came loose I did not want to forget about this cute ensemble and decided to paint the chunk of cheese. Of course the mouse also had to be there. But when the painting was done, it had a lot of empty space. Not negative space, which often works well in a painting. But a clearly unfilled space. The composition was not the best. My thoughts went automatically to adding a cat, hunting the mouse. Of course, this completely messed up perspective, but I don’t care. This is a funny scene made with an uncomplicated, merry mind. No deep thinking or a heavy message lies embedded in it. It was never meant to be perfect. It was just a fun little project!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
