When I was able to purchase this 3-part window from an old barn through my Mississauga framer, it was in the thick of Covid. I wanted to create a painting that fitted this frame. So I purchased a mounted canvas that was too big for the frame, that would ultimately be cut to size to fit the frame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My primary thoughts about the subject had a lot to do with Covid. I felt so strongly for people who were unable to visit their loved ones in senior homes. Stories in the news about them pressing their hands to the glass of their windows, as if they were standing hand in hand, truly moved me. So I tried to develop senior faces, all sad and depressed. Sitting behind flowerpots, staring sadly at the outside world. Sorrowful about missing their loved ones. But nothing really persisted and the frame stood unused for 3 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Times are better now, and we can all visit our loved ones again. It helped me think about a more uplifting subject. And one day it came to me. One could say this is a moronic subject, but to me this is fun. I wanted to paint somebody who was caught in the frame, crying out for help to be released; or room; or whatever it looks like to you. To counter the somewhat dramatic premise, I used bright colours for some comic relieve…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
