Cleaning the cat room!

Day 62

While the cats spend the day at the vet to get vaccinated and health-checked, we take advantage of their absence to thoroughly clean the room.

It not only freshens up the room, but it also helps us pass the time so that we don’t think about the cats at the vet the whole time. The first vet visit is a big deal for Mitsy in particular who, as far as we know, has never seen the inside of a veterinary clinic, let alone handled by anyone else than us. And we have not gotten to the stage yet where we can lift her up… We lure Mitsy into a carrier with some yummy food, in the early AM, then pack up the kittens in another and off we go. Not a peep from either of them and before we know it, we are back home – let the works begin!

We are not just doing this to vacuum and clean. Our main reason actually is the carpet. It is a ‘last piece of a roll’ good quality carpet we bought to put on top of the room carpet that is part of the rental house. It keeps that layer from getting too soiled. What we never even thought about was the facts that carpets that are not on a foundation of wood or something like that, develop feet. They move. So the cat room had a lot of waves and the carpet had crept away from the walls. We wanted to try and fix that but for that the room had to be completely empty. It worked! See the timelapse video below to witness the 2 minute clean…

Because it went so fast and smoothly we even had some hours left to tend to our sore muscles and joins. Weird to have no cat family to feed and look after. But also nice to air everything out, and bring all of our debris to the tip later on. We feel content and proud of ourselves and are now eagerly awaiting the return of the felines…
