Labour begins and I fall asleep…

Today, Thursday, Mitsy is even more restless and vocal than yesterday. Last night she was all over Basecamp, as you can see in the Timelapse video. She went right up to the ceiling cat cam! It makes me check that everything is still safe and secure this morning…

When I bring her fresh food she does not scurry into her Nest and I decide not to disturb her by opening the Basecamp front door or side door. I just talk to her a bit, then use the watering can to add to her kibble, which she has been eating a lot from. Then I leave. Gradually she goes to sleep and she stays out of the Nest the entire day, lying stretched out on the blankie. Yay! So happy about that!

In the early evening I pop a sleeping pill so I can be sure to catch some zzzz’s, and just as I start to feel the first effects, I check the cat cam one more time, on instinct. And lo and behold, I am almost certain that what I am looking at is contraction after contraction. In between the waves, Mitsy seems to go to sleep instantly. She is in the Nest and when the contractions pick up again, she uses the edges of the Nest to brace herself. And then I fall asleep….
